I recently picked up a knitting project that I had set aside some time ago. I decided to reflect on that today. The project is my first sweater. I had been knitting it on and off for some time, but hadn’t picked it up in a while.

Why did I put it down in the first place? The sweater had reached a size that made it cumbersome to carry around and work on. Additionally, it had reached a point where the knitting became monotonous, just going round and round. Due to its size, the visible progress in one sitting is minimal unless I dedicate a substantial amount of time to knitting.

I’ve resumed the project because I aim to finish it and have a sweater ready to wear by this winter, or perhaps the next. Completing it will mark the biggest knitting project I’ve undertaken, and I’ll be able to proudly show it off, rather than admitting it’s been untouched for a while.

To help myself get back to it today, I found an appropriately sized bag and placed the project inside. This made it feel less confined to the space where it had been lying idle. I believe this is the first time I’ve completed a row in months.

Anyway, it can be rewarding to resume a long-neglected project, and I’m now eager to see it through to completion.
