Plants: Learning From Experiments
Getting into growing plants is a journey full of experiments, each one helping to deepen your understanding of the hobby and gauge your interest in its various aspects. As I’ve experimented with different plants, I’ve realized that my preferences are distinct. This isn’t just about how easily a plant grows or its particular growth habits; it’s more nuanced than that.
My plant-growing journey has seen several phases. Initially, I started with a few simple houseplants that thrived with regular watering. Then, I ventured into experimenting with growing different trees from pits. Currently, I find myself gravitating back to starting trees from seeds or pits, and even rescuing trees growing in precarious places, like the cracks of a parking lot.
My interest has now pivoted towards bonsai. I’m eager to build a small collection of trees, which means having enough space and the right tools. I’ve been avidly following various bonsai YouTube channels, thoroughly enjoying the content they produce.
To make room for this new bonsai venture, I realize I might need to let go of some of my current plants. This isn’t an easy decision, but it’s a necessary step to focus more on bonsai. It’s all part of the evolving journey of a plant enthusiast – learning, growing, and sometimes, letting go to make space for new growth.
